Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for Metro Vancouver, including West Vancouver. High winds with gusts up to 100 km/h are expected and will continue into the evening on Monday, November 4.
Please exercise caution. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Damage to buildings, including roof shingles and windows, may occur. Power outages are possible. Be prepared to adjust your driving to adapt to changing road conditions due to high winds.
Power outages
If you lose power, first check BC Hydro's Outage Map for a list of reported power outages and estimated repair time.
If your area isn't listed on the Outage Map, report a power outage by contacting BC Hydro at 1-888-769-3766, *HYDRO (*49376) on your mobile device, or report it online:

Report a downed power line
If you come across a downed or damaged line, always assume they are live, even if they're not sparking or making any sound. Follow these steps if you see a downed or damaged power line:
- Stay back at least 10 metres (33 feet). That's about the length of a city bus.
- Dial 911 and let them know that a power line has fallen or is damaged.
- Keep others in the vicinity at least a bus-length away
Fallen trees and branches
To report fallen trees on roads and sidewalks, please contact West Vancouver public works dispatch:
