About the Awards Program
Community Awards recognize the efforts and commitments made by individuals and groups to build a stronger community and enhance our quality of life through volunteerism, achievement, acts of truth and reconciliation, acts of heroism or philanthropy.
Individuals or groups residing in West Vancouver are eligible to receive a Community Award. Nominees from outside the community are also eligible, provided the achievement being recognized was undertaken in, or for the benefit of, West Vancouver. A person can be nominated in one category only.
All award nominations will be reviewed and selected by the Awards Committee. The Community Awards will be granted to nominees according to the criteria described above. Multiple awards may be granted in each category. Award recipients will be notified prior to any public announcement and will be invited to attend the Community Awards Ceremony planned for late spring.

How to Apply
- Complete the Nomination Form:
Apply Online - Provide a Cover Letter
Describe how the nominee has contributed to the specified category and enhanced the lives of residents of West Vancouver (500-word maximum). - Provide Supporting Materials
Strengthen your application by including descriptions of specific projects and/or activities. The following supporting materials can be included (10 pages maximum).

The Annual Community Awards Categories
The annual Community Awards ceremony honours dedicated community members in the following five categories:

Arts & Culture Award
recognizing individuals or groups who make exceptional contributions to the visual, literary, and performing arts, or who advocate for cultural diversity and vitality

Community Commitment Award
recognizing unsung heroes, individuals, or groups who make outstanding contributions to the community, lead by example, and inspire excellence through community commitment in dynamic participation, leadership, and active citizenship

Environment Award
recognizing individuals or groups who make significant contributions in environmental stewardship, protection, and education

Heritage Award
recognizing individuals or groups who make exceptional contributions to the preservation of West Vancouver’s natural, built, and cultural heritage through conservation, projects, education, or advocacy

Health, Wellness & Activity
recognizing individuals or groups who make exceptional contributions to enhancing mental, physical, emotional well-being, and active lifestyles in the community.
