British Columbia is a leader in creating product stewardship programs, which means that many items once considered garbage can now be recycled, reused or disposed of properly at a designated drop-off depot. Put waste in its place.
There are local drop-off depots for materials such as:
- light bulbs and fixtures
- refundable drink containers
- small appliances
- motor oil and antifreeze
- plastic foam packaging
- plastic bags and overwrap
- some types of small scrap metal (such as coat hangers)
- usable clothing and textiles, which are collected for donation to charities
- cooking oil
- large quantities of mixed paper, cardboard and containers
Please note: Not all depots, accept all items. Check before you go.
