Please contact Capilano View Cemetery at 604-925-7007 between 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday to arrange a burial. Arrangements can be made by appointment over the phone. 

Please have the following information available to help us arrange an interment:

• your name, address, and phone number
• your relationship to the deceased person
• the full legal name of the deceased person
• the last address of the deceased person
• date and place of birth of the deceased person
• date and place of death of the deceased person
• the name of the funeral home you have chosen
• date and time you would like for the service 

Interment services are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Having more than one date option will help with finding a time to suit your preferences.

Plots for West Vancouver residents are sold at a lower rate than for non-residents. Residency is based on where the person for whom the lot is being purchased lives at the time of purchase. Residency of the purchaser is not a consideration.

For example, a person who lived in West Vancouver for 40 years, then sold their West Vancouver property and moved to White Rock six months ago is a non-resident.

However, if that person who moved to White Rock six months ago still owns a home in West Vancouver, they are a resident.

Cemetery Fees & Charges Summary - effective January 1, 2024 (PDF)

The above document is a summary of cemetery fees and charges. In case of discrepancy, the Fees and Charges Bylaw takes precedent.

An interment is the burial of a deceased person in a full casket, or the burial of cremated remains in an in-ground plot.

Single casket lots are for the interment of a full casket interment and up to four cremation interments or up to four “In Memoriam”(s).

Double depth casket lots are for the interment of two full casket interments and up to four cremation interments or up to four ”In Memoriam”(s).

Scheduling an Interment

A minimum notice of 48 working hours, calculated from the time of attendance in the Cemetery Clerk’s office, is needed to schedule an interment.

Interments are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday. For interments scheduled after hours, on weekends or statutory holidays, additional fees apply.

Inurnment is the setting of cremated remains in an above-ground structure called a columbaria niche. It takes approximately seven to ten days for a columbaria niche front to be engraved and delivered.

Scheduling and Inurnment

A minimum of 48 working hours' notice calculated from the time of attendance in the Cemetery Clerk’s office is needed to schedule an inurnment.

All markers (headstones) require a permit and approval from Capilano View Cemetery. The cemetery does not make or sell markers, except for single cremation plots and columbaria niches. You may order memorial markers for full burial plots and double cremation plots from any marker company. Capilano View Cemetery has restrictions on the type, size, and materials used for memorial markers for each interment option. Markers must be made of either granite or bronze, with a minimum thickness of 3 inches. The marker must meet the Cemetery Regulation Bylaw and is subject to pre-approval and authorization by Capilano View Cemetery.  A list of marker companies may be obtained from the Cemetery office. The cost to install a marker is $382.20 (including GST). The cost to remove and refurbish an existing marker is $286.65 (including GST). The fee must be paid before issuing a Marker Permit.

Markers can take up to two months for delivery. Cemetery staff install all markers on all interment sites/plots.
