Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for the North Shore, forecasting a series of moderate rainfall systems beginning today Friday, February 21. The rain is expected to continue into the evening of Sunday, February 23.
The highest amounts are expected on Saturday. The cumulative rainfall accumulations over three days may reach nearly 100 mm by the end of this weekend.
During periods of heavy rainfall:
- Please take a few minutes to clear leaves from catch basins near your property so that rainwater can drain from the streets.
- Slow down and drive carefully.
- Stay clear of rivers due to quickly flowing water, ice, and potentially unstable riverbanks.
- Have an emergency plan and kit to help you and your family be prepared for a power outage.
- Wear winter-appropriate clothing and footwear when heading outside.
