Museum of North Vancouver (MONOVA) Sensory Friendly Sundays
MONOVA is dedicated to creating an inclusive experience for visitors with autism and other neurodiversity’s through its exhibits and public programs. Sensory Friendly Sundays offer neurodivergent individuals, their families, and caregivers the ability to visit the museum on the third Sunday of every month. Visitors will enjoy a calm, relaxed, and safe atmosphere. On Sensory Friendly Sundays, adaptations will be made to the exhibits, such as lowered lighting and sound adjustments for a more comfortable visit. A quiet space will also be available for visitors who need a break.
Generously supported by Vancouver's North Shore Tourism Association.
Accessible Trail
Birdsong path, located on the Juniper Loop, is a short, accessible trail in an old growth forest in Lighthouse Park.
Birdsong Path starts at the entrance to the parking lot, on the right, next to two paved parking spots. It is almost flat, with a surface of compacted fine rock dust. It is nearly 360m long and winds past the wetland into deeper forest. A sturdy bench is opposite the wetland, with a second bench at the end of the Path, both made in-house in the District's carpentry shop. A picnic table nestles in the forest to one side of the Path. It is wheelchair accessible and made of strong 100% plastic.
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the forest, where songbirds are often heard and seen.
