Projects by the District of West Vancouver and partner agencies with upcoming work are posted here.

When necessary, construction signage and traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Please use extra caution while travelling through construction zones.

Short term work impacting traffic

JUNE 24–30

Highway 1 eastbound and westbound, between Exit 8 (on-ramp) and Exit 7 (off-ramp)

  • Expect single-lane traffic and periodic slow lane closures on Highway 1 eastbound and westbound, between the Exit 8 on-ramp and the Exit 7 off-ramp, from Friday, June 24 to Thursday, June 30 from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m., owing to work related to the Five Creeks Stormwater Flood Protection Project.

3300 Block Marine Drive 

  • Note: New project timeline to be determined.
  • Owing to supply chain delays, the timeline for completion has been delayed. An updated schedule will be provided once available.
  • Expect minor delays and single-lane alternating traffic on the 3300 block of Marine Drive, east of Gables Lane, owing to construction work at 3353 Marine Drive. Construction will take place on weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Bellevue Avenue at the intersection of 13th Street
Note: New project timeline to be determined

  • Update: Owing to supply chain delays, this project is temporarily on hold. An updated schedule will be provided once available.
  • Expect intermittent traffic impacts and temporary parking restrictions at the tennis court parking on Bellevue Avenue at the intersection of 13th Street owing to work to reinstall a catch basin.
  • Business access will remain.

Long term work impacting traffic

6200 block Marine Drive, between Orchill Road and Gleneagles Ch'axáý Elementary School

  • Expect minor traffic delays on the 6200 block of Marine Drive, between Orchill Road and Gleneagles Ch'axáý Elementary School, starting Monday, July 4 until approximately the end of August, owing to the installation of a new section of watermain and fire hydrants. Work hours will be between 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.
  • Please expect single-lane, alternating traffic on the 6200 block of Marine Drive during work hours.

Keith Road, between Third Street and the Highway 1 overpass

  • Expect minor traffic impacts and temporary parking restrictions on Keith Road between Third Street and the Highway 1 overpass owing to work to install a new sanitary main and sanitary services.
  • Work is scheduled to start the week of May 16 and is anticipated to be completed in two to three months depending on the underground conditions encountered. Hours of work will be between 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.
  • Crews will work to restore the road upon completion of the sanitary work, when the weather permits.

Highway 1 westbound Exit 7/Westmount Road/Westridge Avenue

  • Highway 1 Westbound Exit 7 will be closed until approximately August 30 to allow for the tunnelling works to install the stormwater diversion crossings underneath Highway 1.
  • As a result of the closure, westbound traffic seeking to exit Highway 1 at Exit 7/Westmount Road/Westridge Avenue will be detoured via Highway 1 Exit 4/Woodgreen Drive/Headland Drive. Drivers are advised to follow the detour route posted on construction signage.

Highway 1 westbound on-ramp Exit 8/Cypress Bowl Road

  • Highway 1 westbound on-ramp Exit 8/Cypress Bowl Road will be closed for approximately nine weeks, starting on Monday, May 16 to allow for the installation of the East Leg of the stormwater diversion system.
  • This closure will impact traffic seeking to enter Highway 1 westbound at on-ramp Exit 8/Cypress Bowl Road. Drivers are advised to follow the posted construction signage.

3300 block of Westmount Road

  • Starting on Monday, June 20, expect minor traffic and pedestrian impacts on the 3300 block of Westmount Road owing to work to install manholes along Westmount Road as part of the Five Creeks Stormwater Flood Protection Project.
  • From Monday, June 20 to Wednesday, June 29, construction will take place Monday to Friday, from 9:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3:30 to 7 p.m. in order to mitigate impacts on school traffic.
  • From Thursday, June 30 until this work is completed at approximately the end of July, hours of work will be Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Cypress Bowl Road between Cypress Bowl Lane and the Highway 1 Exit 8 off-ramp, and Cypress Bowl Lane between Cypress Bowl Road and Mulgrave School

  • Starting on Monday, June 27, expect minor traffic impacts potential delays on Cypress Bowl Road between Cypress Bowl Lane and the Highway 1 Exit 8 off-ramp, and on Cypress Bowl Lane between Cypress Bowl Road and Mulgrave School and single-lane alternating traffic as required.
  • This work is to prepare and install the Pipe Creek culvert crossing underneath Cypress Bowl Lane and Cypress Bowl Road as part of the Five Creeks Stormwater Flood Protection Project and is expected to be complete by mid-August.
  • Work will take place on weekdays, between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

1300 Block Marine Drive, between 13th Street and 14th Street

Work for the week of June 24 to 29 (weekdays only) will include:

  • The alleyway north of Marine Drive, between 13th Street and 14th Street will be closed to vehicle traffic owing to Shaw underground utility work.
  • Traffic control personnel will coordinate with the equipment operator to assist pedestrians and residents needing to pass by the site, or requiring access to their buildings.
  • Traffic control personnel will be located at the entrances to the alleyway at 13th Street and 14th Street to help with traffic flow.

Welch Street Bridge improvements

  • UPDATE: To complete necessary repairs to the bridge deck, Park Royal is planning a full closure of the Welch Street bridge to vehicle traffic starting Friday, May 6. This work is expected to take three to four months to complete. Detour and construction signage will be posted on-site and in the surrounding area.
  • Once the bridge deck repairs are complete, the bridge will be open to single-lane alternating vehicle traffic for the second phase of resurfacing work. The second phase is expected to take three months to complete.
  • The Spirit Trail multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists will remain open.

22nd Street, between Marine Drive and Argyle Avenue

  • Expect minor traffic impacts and temporary parking restrictions on 22nd Street between Marine Drive and Argyle Avenue owing to work to install a new sanitary main and sanitary services.
  • Work is scheduled to start on Monday, April 11 and is anticipated to be completed in two months depending on the underground conditions encountered. Hours of work will be between 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.
  • Crews will work to restore the road upon completion of the sanitary work, when the weather permits.

Headland Drive, between Sprucefeild Road and HWY 1 

  • UPDATE: Owing to unforeseen delays in ground conditions, this project has been delayed. An updated timeline will be provided when available.
  • Expect minor traffic delays due to work to install a new section of watermain and fire hydrants. Work hours will be between 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.

Ferry Building restoration (1414 Argyle Avenue)

  • Eight parking spots beside the Ferry Building Gallery will be closed throughout the construction phase of the project to accommodate the construction activity. Traffic and pedestrian flow, as well as other parking disruptions to the north of the gallery on Argyle Avenue, will occur intermittently during construction activity.
