Projects by the District of West Vancouver and partner agencies with upcoming work are posted here.

When necessary, construction signage and traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Please use extra caution while travelling through construction zones.

Short term work impacting traffic

Marine Drive between Eagleridge Drive and Nelson Avenue 

  • The District will be conducting a topographic survey along Marine Drive between Eagleridge Drive and Nelson Avenue.  
  • The work is planned for the week of January 17 and should take one to two days to complete.
  • There may be minor traffic impacts when the surveyor needs to get road information, but there will be no lengthy traffic delays as a result of this work. Expect to see workers in high-visibility vests and work trucks in the area. Please exercise caution and obey traffic control personnel. 

Marine Drive and Pitcairn Place

  • Single-lane alternating traffic from Monday, January 10 to Friday, January 14 owing to lift station replacement work.

Chippendale Road at the intersection of Cypress Bowl Road

  • Expect potential traffic impacts and intermittent, single-lane, alternating traffic on Chippendale Road, north and south of Cypress Bowl Road, and on Cypress Bowl Road east of Chippendale Road starting Tuesday, January 4 for Fortis gas work.
  • Construction is anticipated to take approximately one to two weeks to complete, dependent on weather and contractor availability.
  • Work hours will be between 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.

Skilift Road between Folkestone Way and 21st Avenue

  • Expect minor traffic delays and intermittent, single-lane alternating traffic on Thursday, February 24 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., owing to vegetation trimming. Traffic control persons will be on-site to assist with vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Long term work impacting traffic

Marine Drive and Primrose Place

  • UPDATE: This project is now anticipated to be completed in January 2022. Work remaining to be completed includes road and crosswalk markings, tree trimming, signage, and crosswalk flasher installation.
  • Expect intermittent delays, parking restrictions, and single-lane alternating traffic on Marine Drive at the intersection of Primrose Place owing to bus stop accessibility and safety improvement work. Work hours will be between 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.
  • The construction timeline is subject to change due to weather and contractor availability.

Ballantree Road and St. Andrews Road

  • UPDATE: This project is now anticipated to be completed in January 2022. Work remaining to be completed includes concrete work, road and crosswalk markings, signage, and crosswalk flasher installation.
  • Expect intermittent delays, parking restrictions, and single-lane alternating traffic at the intersection of Ballantree Road and St. Andrews Road owing to bus stop accessibility and safety improvement work. Work hours will be between 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.
  • The construction timeline is subject to change due to weather and contractor availability.

4100 Block Marine Drive, Sherman Street and Rose Crescent

  • UPDATE: Owing to delays in material delivery, unforeseen ground conditions and extreme weather events, this project is now anticipated to be complete in January 2022.
  • Expect minor traffic impacts on the 4100 Block of Marine Drive, Sherman Street and at the intersection of Rose Crescent and Sherman Street, owing to work to install a new section of watermain and fire hydrants. Work hours will be between 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.
  • There will be single-lane, alternating traffic on the 4100 Block of Marine Drive during work hours.

Ferry Building restoration (1414 Argyle Avenue)

  • Eight parking spots beside the Ferry Building Gallery will be closed throughout the construction phase of the project to accommodate the construction activity. Traffic and pedestrian flow, as well as other parking disruptions to the north of the gallery on Argyle Avenue, will occur intermittently during construction activity. Learn more.

Welch Street bridge improvements

  • The multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists is now open and the bridge is open to two-way vehicle traffic.
  • Expect single-lane, alternating traffic on the bridge on Tuesday, January 25 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., for preliminary bridge work in advance of road restoration.
  • Road restoration of the bridge deck is scheduled to begin in late February and will require single-lane, alternating traffic to accommodate the work.

Lions Gate Bridge lane closure

  • The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure is replacing the lane control system on Lions Gate Bridge.
  • In spring 2022, there will be evening all-lane closures over two weekends to activate the new lane control system. Dates to be confirmed. Sidewalks and bike lanes will remain open for pedestrians and cyclists with minor detours at times. Project details.

Caulfeild Drive between Headland Drive and Rutland Road

  • UPDATE: Due to unforeseen delays in material delivery, this project is now anticipated to be completed in February 2022.
  • Expect minor traffic delays due to work to install a new section of watermain and fire hydrants. Work hours will be between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday, or as necessary to complete the project.

Headland Drive between Sprucefeild Road and HWY 1 

  • UPDATE: Due to unforeseen ground conditions this project is temporarily on hold and will resume in early 2022. An update will be posted when more information is available.
  • Expect minor traffic delays due to work to install a new section of watermain and fire hydrants.
