Every year, the District looks at implementing pedestrian safety measures including installing pedestrian-activated rectangular rapid-flashing beacons (RRFBs) at crosswalks. However, the District receives more requests than we can provide in a year due to budget constraints.
All the requests are ranked, and the District works towards installing one or two RRFBs per year on a priority basis. The evaluation process for the current year RRFBs is usually done in the late spring and installation is scheduled before school starts in September.
