Saplings Outdoor Camp at Lighthouse Park
Every day at Saplings’ nature-based camps is a little different! Build fairy houses, shelters, and forts; create nature art; and even make a bow and arrow. Play classic childhood games like Survival, Manhunt, and Capture the Flag, hike to beautiful hidden spots around Lighthouse Park, and enjoy plenty of exploration, activity, and fun! The price includes camp activities, intensive instruction and supervision, lessons in risk management, small groups, and low child-to-educator ratios.

Ambleside Summer Camp
Join us at Ambleside Park for a camp filled with games, beach activities and more! This outdoor camp runs rain or shine. Drop-off is between 8:30–9 a.m. and pick-up is between 4–4:30 p.m. at Ambleside Adventure Park located just before the Ambleside Par 3 Golf Course.

Skaterkidz Camp
Whether you’re just learning or trying to enhance your skills—this camp is for you! Enjoy a half day of skateboarding at Ambleside Skate Park—learn techniques and tricks and play a variety of fun games. This camp is suitable for all levels. Skateboards are available for use or bring your own! Dro- off and pick-up at Ambleside Skate Park.

Health and Safety

All West Vancouver camps follow provincial and local health authority guidelines.

Wet Weather

All camps operate rain or shine unless specified. Camp activities and schedules may be modified to match the weather, but please send children with appropriate clothing in all cases.

Nut Allergies

We strongly encourage participants to bring nut-free snacks and meals, however, we cannot guarantee a nut-free environment.

Late Pick-ups

Considering traffic can be very busy in and out of West Vancouver, please allow enough time in your commute to pick up children before the end of camp. We understand that on occasion, extreme traffic congestion makes it impossible for you to pick up your child before the end of camp. As such, we strongly encourage all families to identify two or three family members or friends who can help out with pick-ups in these situations. Please add your alternate pick-up contact information to your ePACT account.

Our camps run on a philosophy of inclusion, so all children can have fun with their peers and participate to the best of their ability in summer camp activities.

Summer Camp Inclusion Program Application

Family Provided Support

Families are welcome and encouraged to bring their own support person to any program (if required). A participant in a camp is not considered support for another camper. If your child will be attending with their own support person, please let us know when you have registered by emailing [email protected]. This will help us plan for the extra person (e.g., for admissions and bus transportation).

Request Summer Camps Support

If a family is not providing your own support person, we are offering support to children aged 5 to 15 years, based on availability and funding. Children must be able to use the washroom as well as change and transfer independently. Your child’s safety, the safety of other participants, and the safety of District of West Vancouver staff are our primary considerations.

If your child receives full- or part-time support of an Education Assistant (EA) during the school year or if your child requires support to participate in recreation, please fill out a Summer Camp Inclusion Program (SCIP) application and let us know when you have registered or are waitlisted by emailing [email protected].

The SCIP application is also available at any recreation facility front desk.

Children may receive a maximum of one to two weeks of support during the summer. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Summer Camp Participant Parental Consent Forms are required for camps that are under three (3) hours in duration, or as an alternative for families choosing not to use ePACT forms for camps that are three (3) hours or longer in duration.

ePACT

The District of West Vancouver uses the ePACT network to collect medical and emergency information about your child. ePACT is a highly secure online emergency network that is the new standard in connecting communities.

ePACT Pass

An ePACT Pass is required for all camps lasting three hours or longer. The pass costs $4 per child per year and must be renewed annually. West Vancouver Recreation uses the ePACT network to securely collect medical and emergency information, eliminating the need for paper forms. Purchase an ePACT pass below, or buy it when you register for your summer camp.

Who needs ePACT?

Anyone who registers their child for any West Vancouver camps:

•    Summer camps
•    Spring break camps
•    Winter break camps
•    Any other camps

How to use ePACT?

• Each camp participant’s family will receive an ePACT email invitation from West Vancouver Recreation via ePACT.
• Families then accept this invitation by logging into their account (if they already have an ePACT account), or by creating their family ePACT account (if they don’t yet have one). To create an account, simply follow the steps on the epactnetwork.com website.
• Parents enter required details, such as medical history and emergency contacts, through a series of simple steps.
• Families then securely share this information with West Vancouver Recreation, allowing administrators access to their information.
• Families can update ePACT at anytime during the year and we will automatically be alerted (e.g., if you add a new cell phone or new emergency contact, we will receive that update).

How secure is ePACT?

Privacy and security are ePACT’s top priority—the system meets or exceeds the same standards as most online banks. Please note that all information is stored in Canada under Canadian government privacy regulations (FOIPPA and PIPEDA).  Also, ePACT is a locally-based company and their office is located on the North Shore.

Please note that camp staff will only have access to your child’s ePACT information for the duration of the camp. Camp staff access to this information will be restricted once the camp is over.

Don’t forget to periodically update your account!

Please periodically check your ePACT account to ensure that all your information is up-to-date, to reflect any changes in your family’s medical history, emergency contacts, etc.

Our Camp Leaders

Our camp leaders receive a high standard of training in games, safety, facilitating children’s friendships, and helping build self-esteem. In specific areas like sports, music, arts, and gymnastics, our staff are highly certified and come with professional experience.

Class sizes have small camper-to-staff ratios so that each child has a chance to feel connected to the leaders and receives individual attention.
