Upper Lands/Eagleridge Lands park management planning underway

Eagleridge and Upper Lands - News post

At their regular Council meeting on Monday, July 7, Mayor and Council announced that the District has begun the process of exploring options for how best to manage a significant area of recently dedicated park known as Upper Lands and Eagleridge Lands. This work will ensure that the long-term care and use of these lands reflects community values and supports both conservation and recreation goals.

Background

On April 7, 2025, the District officially dedicated 262 acres of the Eagleridge Lands, along with an additional 704 acres of adjoining District land. The dedication of the Eagleridge Lands, in combination with existing District-owned parkland, established one of the largest urban park networks in the region. With the addition of Eagleridge Lands, combined with the Upper Lands parkland, the Old Growth Conservancy, Whyte Lake Park, and Nelson Canyon Park, the District is protecting over 3,400 acres of contiguous green space.

Staff plan to present a report for Council’s consideration in December 2025 at a regular council meeting with an overview of potential management models.

We look forward to sharing more with the community in December.
