The North Shore was at the epicentre of a significant and prolonged storm this weekend. The extremely high rainfall volumes resulted in flooding in West Vancouver and other areas on the North Shore. While municipal crews have been preparing storm systems and roadways for seasonal weather, the volume of rain, intensity, and duration of the event was unprecedented.
Over the weekend, crews have been working to support the emergency response effort and respond to the needs of West Vancouver residents. Crews continue to work to assess storm-related impacts and address priority issues including emergency repairs and debris removal.
There continue to be impacts on a number of local parks due to repairs and assessment work. Please obey all signage and exercise caution when in parks, on trails, or near waterways, and keep a safe and respectful distance from crews who may be working in the area.
Short-term emergency supports are available to residents who are unable to stay in their home. To access those supports, residents should call North Shore Emergency Management at 778-651-9600. Residents are also encouraged to stay current on updates by visiting the North Shore Emergency Management website at nsem.ca.
We recognize this storm has significantly impacted West Vancouver residents, and we are grateful for your support and patience as we work to address storm-related impacts.
