The District of West Vancouver will be raising the Survivor’s flag on Monday, September 29 at 10 a.m.
Join us as we stand together in support and commitment, and to honour the Survivors and Intergenerational Survivors of the Residential School system and recognize its lasting effects. This is an important step on the journey of truth and reconciliation, and everyone is invited and welcome to attend this event.
Squamish Nation will lead with their words as we gather to reflect on the significance of this day. Members of the West Vancouver Police Department and West Vancouver Fire and Rescue, colleagues from North Shore Emergency Management (NSEM), and District staff will also be present.
Wear an orange shirt as we gather and remember the lost children and their families, languages, traditions, and communities. This will be an opportunity to listen and learn together, and everyone is encouraged to visit the displays, information tables, and enjoy light refreshments. The flag will be raised at Municipal Hall at 750 17th Street.
