The Harry Jerome Oval at West Vancouver Place for Sport will officially open on Tuesday, July 8. Place for Sport, the new track and field facility located at West Vancouver Secondary School, was officially opened on December 10, 2024.
Place for Sport includes a six-lane rubber surfaced running track, an artificial turf field with lighting and dedicated areas for long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, and shotput.
In February 2021, West Vancouver Schools, in partnership with the District of West Vancouver, announced that the running track will be named the Harry Jerome Oval, in honour of one of Canada’s most celebrated athletes.
Place for Sport has been made possible with funds from the Growing Communities Fund, generously provided by the BC Ministry of Municipal Affairs, the District of West Vancouver, West Vancouver Schools, fundraising, and private donations.
