Happy Nowruz from West Vancouver Mayor and Council

Nowruz - Mayors News post - March 12

Nowruz marks the beginning of spring, a time of renewal, and invites us to look to the future with hope and optimism.

This year, we recognize that many in our community are celebrating while also carrying concern about the current situation in Iran and the safety of friends and loved ones. Our thoughts are with everyone navigating mixed emotions during this period of uncertainty.

West Vancouver is a community shaped by many cultures, languages, and lived experiences. During these times, we are reminded of the strength that comes from standing together, listening with compassion, offering support, and making sure our neighbours feel seen and valued.

Many members of our community will gather once again in Ambleside Park at the upcoming Nowruz Fire Festival to participate in fire jumping, a tradition symbolizing good health and good fortune for the new year.

Events like this highlight the vibrancy and diversity that make West Vancouver a great place to live. In the coming year, we look forward to working with our residents on projects and initiatives that will continue to build a stronger, more inclusive community.

To all those celebrating Nowruz, we wish you joy, health, prosperity, and safety for your loved ones.

Sincerely,
Mark Sager
Mayor
