Wondering what to do with your Christmas tree when the holiday season wraps up? Consider bringing it to a chipping event to support a local community group and dispose of your tree in an environmentally-friendly way.

Cut into bundles for curbside collection

Christmas trees can be set out with your yard trimmings or in your Green Can on collection day, provided that it is prepared as follows:

  • Place small trimmings and branches in a lidded 77-litre can with a Yard Trimmings decal. Kraft paper bags with folded tops are also accepted.
  • Bundle twigs and branches with biodegradable string or twine. No wire, nylon, or plastic strapping is allowed.
  • At the curbside, place bundles beside, not inside, cans.
