Atmospheric river impacts and recovery in West Vancouver

rain

During the October 19–20 atmospheric river event, parts of West Vancouver, including the 2400 block of Bellevue Avenue, experienced significant flooding, profoundly affecting residents, businesses, and daily lives. Our thoughts are with all who are facing continuing disruptions, and we are committed to supporting the community.

We recognize that there are residents who are currently facing on-going impacts, distress, and challenges. The District is working hard to help those who have been affected by this major weather event.

During the storm, District crews prioritized life safety and worked to clear debris screens allowing water to flow back into creeks and reduce flooding. Once creek levels were under control, clean-up work began to help restore the impacted areas.

The 2400 block of Bellevue Avenue remains closed at this time to allow restoration companies full access to conduct repairs. In support of restoration work, the District is providing sandbags to those who have requested them.
