Have your say in how you play

Results

What we heard, what we did, and what we plan to do.

In the Spring of 2022, we invited your feedback on what the future of recreation should look like in order to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Several community members responded and shared their thoughts in the ‘Have Your Say in How You Play’ survey and during a series of open houses hosted around the community.

We would now like to report back to you on the 10 Key Areas identified in the final report, and share how we responded, and what we plan to do in the future.

Your feedback became the basis of the Community Services Needs Assessment Final Report which outlined what the District of West Vancouver needed to change in terms of local public recreation and community services from a pre-pandemic environment to a post-pandemic
environment.

We would now like to report back to you on the 10 Key Areas identified in the final report, and share how we responded, and what we plan to do in the future:

Project background

The District of West Vancouver invited input from the community on the future of District community services and recreation programs, in response to the changes that occurred in community recreation over the past two years.

The 'Have your say in how you play' survey was launched and public engagement took place from April to June 2022.

Some things we asked the community:

  • What is working now and what isn’t?
  • What should our hours of operation be?
  • Should registered programs be offered monthly or seasonally?
  • Should daily activities be open for registration or drop-in?
  • Are there programs you would like to see in the future?
  • How do we embed equity and diversity into our programs and services?
  • With the Red Cross swimming program coming to an end this year, what is important for the District to consider for a new swimming program?
