Eagle Island Watermain Replacement

Transportation and Utilities - Past Projects

June 2026 update

This project is complete and the permanent underwater watermain is now connected to the existing watermain system.

Background

The District of West Vancouver will be undertaking an underwater watermain replacement connecting Eagle Island to the mainland. This work is required to address recent water service interruptions, replace aging infrastructure, and improve overall system reliability. The upgrade had previously been identified as part of the District’s short-term capital plan due to frequent breaks. A recent specialized condition assessment, completed following a service interruption, has confirmed that this project is now a priority.

Construction began on April 7, 2026 and is expected to be completed by June 2026.

The project will be completed in three phases:

  • Phase 1: Excavation and exposure of the existing watermain on both the mainland and Eagle Island and underground field investigations.
  • Phase 2: Installation of a temporary underwater watermain to maintain service during construction.
  • Phase 3: Installation of the new permanent underwater watermain.
