December 2023 update
Repair work is complete and the Ambleside and Dundarave piers are now open to the public.
Background
In January 2022, the Ambleside and Dundarave piers sustained significant damage due to a major storm that occurred in conjunction with a king tide. Due to the damage and associated safety concerns, the piers were closed and remain so. Repair of both piers began in mid-June, 2023.
Ambleside pier repairs included:
- Repaired sections of deck planking
- Replacement of damaged deck supports and bracing
- New railings
- Lighting repairs
Dundarave pier repairs included:
- Replacement of the concrete slab
- Float and gangway repairs
- New railings
