Unclaimed Property

Did you provide a security deposit for a development permit that the District may still be holding even though the project is complete or was cancelled?

Background

Security deposits are collected as part of the development permit process to ensure work is completed in accordance with the approved development permit plans. If the work is completed according to the development permit the deposit can be returned.

Some deposits have been held for many years and have not been claimed despite reasonable efforts made by staff to locate and notify owners in accordance with the District’s Notifying Depositors Policy and Procedure.
