The District received a preliminary proposal for redevelopment of the Shoreland Apartment site located at 2190 Bellevue Avenue.
The property owner put forth two potential redevelopment options for Council to consider:
- Option one: included a 6 storey building on the west side of the site and a 17 storey on the east side of the site with a total of 186 rental units (24 non-market rental units and 162 market rental units).
- Option two: included a 6 storey building on the west side of the site and a 21 storey on the east side of the site with a total of 230 rental units (24 non-market rental units and 206 market rental units).
Council considered the preliminary development proposal on June 22, 2020, to determine if the proposal can proceed to public consultation prior to the adoption of the Ambleside Municipal Town Centre Local Area Plan (Local Area Plan).
Subsequently, Council determined that potential redevelopment proposals for the site may only advance upon completion of the Local Area Plan. The timing regarding initiation of the local area planning process is yet to be determined.
