On June 6, 2016, Council approved a Heritage Revitalization Agreement (HRA) package that allowed for infill units on the site in exchange for the heritage resource (the Vinson House).
August 2025
Following neighbourhood notification of this proposal, the Acting Director of Planning, Development and Environment Services approved Heritage Alteration Permit 25-067 on August 7, 2025, to allow the roof on the Vinson House, a heritage designated building located on the subject site, to be replaced.
Background
The Vinson House was municipally heritage designated in 2016 through Heritage Designation Bylaw No. 4891, 2016 which provided for legal protection of the Vinson House (1425 Gordon Avenue) in exchange for development of the property including adding a garden suite within the Vinson House (1423 Gordon Avenue) and two infill residences (1419 and 1421 Gordon Avenue) under Heritage Revitalization Bylaw No. 4890, 2016.
A Heritage Alteration Permit is required for any changes to the exterior of the heritage designated building. The Heritage Alteration Permit process is to ensure that proposed changes are appropriate to the general period and style of the Vinson House and do not impact its heritage character or value.
