At the Regular Council Meeting on February 12, 2024, Council approved Development Permit No. 22-143 to allow for a detached secondary suite (coach house) at 1160 Sinclair Street.
In response to Council’s decision on September 18, 2023, to defer the proposed development permit to allow time for the applicant to address neighbourhood concerns, the applicant has worked with staff to make revisions to the proposal, including:
- Reduction from two-storey to one-storey coach house;
- Reduction of building height;
- Shift of building footprint further south; and
- Elimination of proposed zoning variances.
The application is tentatively scheduled to return to Council for consideration on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 7 p.m. in Municipal Hall Council Chamber. The District has received an application for a Development Permit to construct a two-storey detached secondary suite (coach house) at 1160 Sinclair Street.
The proposal is to site the coach house to the northeast of the existing single-family dwelling in the rear yard. Zoning bylaw variances are requested, as per proposed plans, to allow for siting of the coach house in the proposed location.
Council has delegated the approval of detached secondary suite (coach house) development permits to the Director of Planning & Development Services, subject to public input. However, where concerns are received that cannot be deemed as resolved, the application shall be forwarded and considered by Council.
The application was forwarded to Council for consideration on September 18, 2023. At the meeting, Council deferred the proposed development permit to allow the applicant time to work with staff to address neighbourhood concerns.
