The District’s recently approved Urban Forest Management Plan includes recommendations to grow and maintain the urban forest canopy to continue to provide important services to West Vancouver residents (shading, cooling, rainwater management, etc.). In support of the Plan, Council adopted updated landscaping requirements for new single family dwellings to maintain trees on private property undergoing redevelopment.
View Section 130.16 of the Zoning Bylaw for more details.
These updated requirements ensure that trees are retained and planted and there is adequate permeable area to allow for these trees to successfully survive in our changing climate. A landscaping plan needs to be prepared by a landscape architect or licenced landscape contractor and submitted with the Building Permit Application and the NEW Landscape Plan Commitment Letter and Checklist.
