The community is invited to Ambleside Park to celebrate Nowruz, the New Year observed by many communities around the world. People will gather to enjoy live musical performances, dancing, food, and fire jumping, a tradition that symbolizes good health and luck for the coming year.
This event is being hosted by the Iranian Canadian Congress of BC and is free and open to the public.
The fire jumping area is open from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Please note there is a fee to jump the fires.
Road closures
Expect temporary road closures around Ambleside Park between 5 and 11 p.m.
The following roads will be closed to all vehicle traffic:
- 13th Street between Marine Drive and Ambleside Park
- Bellevue Avenue between 13th Street and 14th Street
Please be aware there will be restricted vehicle access to the underground parking at the Grosvenor Ambleside during this time. Businesses in the area will remain open with pedestrian access.
Park access
Ambleside Park will be closed to vehicle traffic between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m. The park will remain open to pedestrians and cyclists.
Parking
Event-goers are encouraged to take public transit, walk, or cycle to the event to reduce traffic and parking congestion.
