October 2021 update
As per Council direction at the regular Council meeting on May 31, 2021, staff brought forward all 10 current cannabis retail applications that were received by June 30, 2021, in a batch for Council to review.
Council directed staff to move forward with all 10 TUP applications for cannabis retail and set the date for the TUPs to be considered at the December 15, 2021 Council Meeting. As part of the consideration process, neighbours within 50 metres of each of the proposed TUP(s) received written notice about the application and had the opportunity to provide comments to Mayor and Council on the proposal. The deadline for comments is December 15, 2021.

June 2021 update
The applicant submitted an application for a Temporary Use Permit for cannabis retail on April 29, 2021.
In compliance with District public engagement requirements, the applicant completed a Public Information Meeting (virtual) on June 29, 2021.
Background
At the Regular Council Meeting on May 31, 2021 Council adopted Interim Non-Medical Cannabis Retail Policy 0137 and directed staff to bring forward all cannabis retail applications received by June 30, 2021, in a batch for Council’s consideration.
The Interim Non-Medical Cannabis Retail Policy 0137 includes evaluation criteria for considering the geographical distribution and limits on cannabis retail businesses across the municipality including a maximum of one cannabis store for each shopping area.
