Food Services: Feed seniors and provide warm and welcoming service in a home-away-from-home cafeteria ambiance.
Delivery or Driving: Deliver meals to isolated or low-income seniors or drive for other programs.
Information Desks: Help visitors find their class or access resources designed to help them age in place. Navigate computer software to assist with purchases and account needs.
Events or Trips: Make that dance or trip extra special for 55+ participants. This opportunity is perfect for those who can’t commit weekly but can commit to one event a month.
Program Instructors and Supports: Share your expertise by leading a class in high-demand program areas. Please check the latest Seniors’ Scene to make sure your expertise is aligned with our current program areas (arts, early memory loss, fitness, isolated seniors, and outdoor sports).

1. Volunteers must meet the West Vancouver Volunteer Services eligibility requirements (including a clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check) and commit to a minimum of six months or 50 hours.

YOU: Like to stay busy, don’t mind rolling up your sleeves for a
good cause and love helping the team
DUTIES: Help the dishwasher scrub pots, sort dirty dishes, and put
away clean dishes or cutlery after they have been washed. Assist
the busser with clearing and cleaning tables and wheeling the
trolley into the dishwashing area. Keep work area safe by wiping up
spills and food from the floor.SHIFT TIMES:
Daily 12:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

YOU: Are a detail oriented early bird who likes to stay busy and
follows changing instructions well.
DUTIES: Opening the Cafeteria involves unlocking cupboards,
fridges, and setting up the service line with baked goods, food, and
juices. Making the morning coffee and maintaining stock. If it is
busy, helping the busser with cleaning tables and potentially folding
laundry and helping with putting dishes away. You may also assist
with cutting vegetables/food preparation. You will be an
ambassador of the Centre in welcoming our seniors.
SHIFT TIMES:
Daily 8 - 11 a.m.

YOU: Are mobile, meticulous and adapt well to changing
instructions, communicating respectfully to the chefs.
DUTIES: Ensure seniors can eat a healthy and affordable meal
even if they cannot dine in. Pack food and soup into containers
then add labels. Set-up and clean-up of station.
SHIFT TIMES:
Monday, Friday, Saturday 9 - 11 a.m.
Tuesday 2 - 4 p.m., Wednesday 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. -
YOU: Follow instructions well and are comfortable making
sandwiches and salads for seniors with minimal supervision. You
are essential to providing seniors with sandwiches and salads that
day.
DUTIES: Follow FoodSafe and work with the baker. Make new
gourmet sandwiches, entrée salads, and food prep, cut and wrap
squares, and more. This position will be supervised by the Baker.
Job duties may vary daily. This role's priority is preparing
sandwiches. Volunteers must complete the sandwiches by
the end of their shift. If you cannot finish the sandwiches in time,
please let the volunteer coordinator know. If you finish early, you will assist with salads or other baker's
items.
SHIFT TIMES:
Monday to Saturday 8 - 10:30 a.m. -
YOU: Are meticulous and task-focused, helping the team with
cleaning and closing the cafeteria on time. You adapt well to
changing instructions, think ahead and manage your time well.
DUTIES: Clean, lock, and prepare the cafeteria for the next day.
Ensure service counters are clean, tables and chairs tidy, help with
dishes and trays, make coffee if needed, stock service line and
supplies for the next day. You will check laundry, wipe utensil
drawers, package entrées, wrap baking and label day old 25% off,
clean surfaces, empty soup warmer and wipe and clean service line
and put everything away for the next day, lock cupboards and
fridges plus if there are customers be ambassador for the centre when taking away dishes.
SHIFT TIMES:
Daily 1 - 3:30 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday 2 - 4:30 p.m. -
YOU: Follow FoodSafe, are personable and communicate clearly in
an empathetic manner. Must get along with the chefs and team.
DUTIES: Help set up lunch requirements: utensils, crackers, plates,
serve food with correct portion size, cleaning the counters, steam
tables, restocking supplies and package left over food and be the
ambassador of the centre in welcoming our seniors.
SHIFT TIMES:
Monday to Friday 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

YOU: Are social, tactful, and like to walk and keep the cafeteria
clean. You will interact a lot with customers and help them carry
trays.
DUTIES: To keep the cafeteria clean and serves the needs of the
patrons by hosting and be an ambassador of the centre. Clear the
dishes on the tables after patrons have left, wipe tables, arms of the
chair, put away clean dishes, scrape plates, and bring trolley to the
cafeteria for washing.
SHIFT TIMES:
Daily 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., or 12 - 2 p.m.
Tuesday & Thursday 5 - 7:15 p.m.

YOU: Troubleshoot questions independently, have decent eyesight
and can reach containers. You will have the option of sitting.
DUTIES: Help customers find their meal in the take-out fridges by
asking what they want and helping put the takeout package
together.
SHIFT TIMES:
Monday to Friday 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. -
YOU: Are a highly mobile floater, willing to learn many new tasks
and work with different members of the team.
DUTIES: To be out on the floor during the lunch period, be an
ambassador for the centre. Be a team leader for the cafeteria
volunteers and help wherever needed. Support for the bussers,
cashiers, help frail seniors with their trays and bring to table, clean
tables as needed. Cross training on multiple roles is encouraged.
SHIFT TIMES:
Daily 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. -
Prior cooking experience or FoodSafe Level 1 is required
YOU: Are experienced in the kitchen and are great at following
directions well under pressure. You respect the chef’s decisions and
assist how you can.
DUTIES: Wash, clean, peel, and cut food with sharp knives. Pack
food and assemble salads or other meals. Must be flexible and
knowledgeable in the kitchen to assist the chefs where possible.
SHIFT TIMES:

YOU: Can use a computer and point of sale and enjoy talking to
customers while making specialty drinks.
DUTIES: Make some simple specialty coffees, lattes, cappuccinos,
or tea, take payment and be an ambassador for the centre. Set up
in the morning shift, clean machines, counters and lounge tables
and lock up for the closing shift. Will be trained to use the latte
machine. Must be competent with computers and cash
handling as you will have to sign in and take payment.
SHIFT TIMES:
Daily 8:30 - 11 a.m.
Daily 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Daily 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. -
Serving it Right is required
YOU: Are responsible and know when to say no.
DUTIES: Follow Serving it Right to serve alcohol.

May vary but are usually evenings and weekends.

YOU: Are friendly and talk to anyone. Are excellent at integrating
changing information and knowledge.
DUTIES: Welcome all members through the door, answer questions
about our programs and community services, direct traffic, consult
on program options available, reminder calls to our program
participants, stock collateral, and support SCENE distribution.
Ability to use a smartphone and computer proficiently and
independently to find the answers to a multitude of questions on
Active Net and other websites is beneficial.
SHIFT TIMES:

Monday to Friday 8:30 - 11:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. -
Drivers must send in their Driver’s Abstract and a copy of their Driver’s license before becoming eligible for this shift.
Drivers drive while the Navigator navigates.
YOU: Love staying active and supporting vulnerable seniors.
DUTIES: Package take-out food in containers and deliver the take out food to members of the community. Time is approximate depending on how many deliveries need to be done. This is a
physical job that requires strong mobility.
SHIFT TIMES:
Monday to Friday 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. -

YOU: Are a team player and know how to stay positive and busy in
a cafeteria environment (checking on coffee, food handling, refilling
items, bussing). You are experienced in customer service with
sound judgement and comfort with cash handling, credit/debit
machines, and computers software. Experience with Point-Of-Sale
screens in a cafeteria or retail environment a bonus.
DUTIES: Provide accurate cash transactions and warm, friendly,
and polite customer service.
SHIFT TIMES:
Daily 8:45 - 11:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Potential evening shifts Tuesday & Thursday 4:45 - 7 p.m. (times TBC) -

YOU: Are tech savvy with incredible customer service skills. You have
experience dealing with all members of the public with diplomacy and tact.
You are detail oriented with numbers, dates, and cash handling while also
remaining flexible to take on a variety of administration tasks.
DUTIES: Navigate Active Net software to answer questions about
our programs and community services. Complete registrations,
print and renew memberships, point-of-sale transactions and cash
handling, administration and other duties as required! Providing
excellent customer service and program information in person or
over the telephone. Be independent to solve problems and use
judgement to redirection questions when appropriate. Direct traffic,
check in Billiards, consult on program options available, outbound calls,
stock collateral, support SCENE distribution, and other tasks as requested.
Must use a computer independently to find the answers to questions on Active Net
and other websites.
SHIFT TIMES:
Monday to Friday 9 - 11:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., 4 - 7:30 p.m. depending on centre hours
