The District has heard from many residents in the Whytecliff Park area regarding concerns about street parking. Visitation to Whytecliff Park has dramatically increased in recent years, and overflow parking from visitors has resulted in a higher demand for on-street parking in the adjacent residential area.
To help mitigate parking concerns during the summer of 2021, the District is employing professional traffic control personnel at our busiest parks. On weekends and holidays, they will be stationed on Marine Drive on the approach to Whytecliff Park. Working with our Parks and Park Ranger staff, the traffic control personnel will only admit vehicles when there are available parking places in the dedicated Whytecliff Park parking lot.
After the park’s busiest months, the District plans to carry out a community engagement and consultation process before proceeding with any changes to parking regulations in your neighbourhood.
We plan to engage with residents in the Whytecliff area regarding street parking in the fall of 2021. Sign up to be contacted regarding this future engagement and to subscribe to email updates for other projects in the Whytecliff area.
