RapidBus (B-Line) construction in West Vancouver

Construction for the Marine Drive RapidBus (formerly known as the B-Line) has started on the North Shore. The West Vancouver segment of the route will be on Marine Drive between Taylor Way and Park Royal Shopping Centre.

As part of Phase One of the Mayors’ Council 10-Year Vision, the new service will address regional and local needs, and improve the speed, reliability and convenience of transit service across the North Shore.

Traffic Impacts

Construction will take place intermittently for approximately two weeks, varying between daytime and overnight construction. Work will take place the week of August 12 between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

To reduce the impact on daytime traffic, some of this required roadwork will be done at night when there are fewer vehicles on the road. One week of intermittent nighttime work will begin in September and take place between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m.

Single-lane closures are necessary for overnight work. During overnight work, residents can expect noise associated with light construction machinery and line painting, as well as some construction lighting.

Roadside signage will be in place to advise of the closures.

Next Steps

TransLink’s implementation of the RapidBus service to Park Royal is not expected to be completed until early 2020, after which Council has directed staff to examine options for extension into our town centre.
