The Turtles cycling club progrtam is for seniors who would like relaxed social rides of between 14-43 km at between 15-18 km/h for destination coffees. The rides take place Tuesday and Thursday mornings (except public holidays and weather permitting) between April 1 and October 31, and usually depart from the Seniors' Activity Centre.
There are regular "drive to ride" trips planned to different locations in the Lower Mainland. All rides have leads and sweeps to ensure participant safety, and all in-town rides have both short (14-18 km) and long ride (26-44 km) options.
New members are welcome. The Turtles cycling program may appeal to people who are older, those who are getting into shape or recovering from injuries, or those who simply want to be home by noon. Our basic ride goes from SAC to the Auto Mall (14km return), continues to Waves to First & Lonsdale (18 km return), and on to JJ Beans at Park & Tilford Gardens (26 km return).
Longer ride options include Deep Cove (44 km return), and various Vancouver ride options over the Second Narrows and Lions Gate bridges. " Drive to ride" options take place 1-2 times per month in places such as Richmond, Ladner, Squamish and the City of Vancouver.
