Whyte Lake fire is contained. Area remains closed.

At approximately 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, West Vancouver Fire & Rescue (WVFR) began receiving a number of calls about smoke seen around the Whyte Lake area above Horseshoe Bay. 

The fire near Whyte Lake is now contained, but the area remains unsafe and is closed to the public due to hot spots, hazardous trees and loose terrain. 

All trails in the Whyte Lake area remain closed to the public until further notice.
