West Vancouver staff pedal ahead of many for Bike to Work Week
Jun 6, 2017
The District's staff Bike to Work Week team finished third among government agencies in the Lower Mainland in Bike to Work Week, May 29 to June 4.
Our staff team had more riders, more trips and more kilometres than we’ve ever logged. Approximately five per cent of staff logged a trip by bike during the week, travelling over 3,000 km by bike and showing leadership by example.
District staff logged the following sustainable commutes:
- 305 trips by bike
- 62 trips by foot
- 53 trips by transit
- 41 trips by carpool
- 8 trips by car share
West Vancouver also came in third place compared to other agencies of similar size.
The Bike to Work Week contest officially ended June 4 and HUB Cycling will announce winners next week.
Together, a hundred employees in West Vancouver logged over 4,000 km during Bike to Work Week and avoided releasing nearly 900 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere.
Congratulations to other West Vancouver organizations who participated in Bike to Work Week, including First Nations Health Authority, New Hippo Health, West Vancouver Schools and Fisheries & Oceans Canada.
