West Vancouver to remove all donation bins

Jan 10, 2019

Update: January 10, 2019

Following another tragic death in a clothing donation bin in Toronto, the District of West Vancouver is asking all charities to remove donation bins from the municipality within the next two weeks. Moving forward, we will work with charitable organizations to look for alternate methods of collecting donations.

Background

The District of West Vancouver is committed to making the necessary changes to ensure Sunday’s tragic accident in a clothing donation bin in Ambleside Park doesn’t happen again. The District is closing donation bins and is looking into options for removing them or using bins that are more secure.

Please don’t drop off donations outside the bins. Instead, clothing donations can be made to the following places:

Drop off

Salvation Army Thrift Store: Drop off donations in the alley behind the thrift store at 1582 Marine Drive between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Visit thriftstore.ca for a list of items that can be donated.
