Update regarding facilities, programs and services that require proof of vaccination
Effective Monday, September 20:
Following recent direction received from the Provincial Health Officer, the District will now require all people age 12+ that are attending fitness centres and fitness and dance activities (excluding rehabilitation) to show proof of vaccination.
Impacted facilities, programs, and services:
Facilities, programs, and services that will require proof of vaccination for anyone age 12+ and accompanying government ID for anyone age 19+:
- fitness centres / weight rooms
- indoor fitness and dance programs and activities, including personal training, group fitness, yoga, pilates, cycling, Zumba, and dance
- indoor rehabilitation programs and children and youth-specific programs for 21 years and under only are exempt
Facilities, programs and, services that continue to require proof of vaccination and accompanying government ID for anyone age 22+:
- indoor sports, including skating, stick and puck, hockey, soccer/futsal, volleyball, basketball, badminton, billiards, pickleball, and table tennis
- swimming is exempt
Youth (21 years and under) are not required to show proof of vaccination for participation in youth sport or recreation activities (with the exception of fitness centres and fitness and dance activities, as above). Parents may also accompany their children to and from sport and recreation activities without the need to show proof of vaccination.
We will continue to adjust programs and services as required to follow the recommendations of the Provincial Health Officer.
