Possible COVID-19 exposure at Parent & Tot Program held at West Vancouver Community Centre
Feb 3, 2021
Vancouver Coastal Health Authority (VCHA) has informed the District of West Vancouver that participants in the Parent & Tot Program held in the Children’s Centre at the West Vancouver Community Centre (2121 Marine Drive) may have been exposed to COVID-19 on January 26, 2021.
VCHA has stated that exposure does not mean you are infected with COVID-19. VCHA has also clarified that if you did not attend a Parent & Tot Program on January 26, you are not considered exposed and VCHA does not recommend additional precautions at this time.
The West Vancouver Community Centre remains open. The District has health protocols in place that include sanitizing program spaces at District facilities after every class. Out of an abundance of caution, certain areas will undergo an additional enhanced cleaning today and reopen thereafter.
Moving forward, please note that in the future we may not provide general messaging to the public about all COVID-19 exposures at District facilities. The District may decide to only contact those directly impacted after considering recommendations from VCHA.
We know that British Columbia is still in the pandemic and we are taking all appropriate precautions. We encourage everyone in our community to take steps to stay safe and healthy and do their part to reduce transmission:
- stay home if you are sick
- wear a mask in all indoor public areas in accordance with Provincial rules/guidelines
- maintain two metres distance from others at all times
- wash your hands often
