If glass is in Blue Box, it will not be picked up

Apr 17, 2017

The Grey Box for glass recycling was delivered to West Vancouver homes in 2015, but many residents are still not separating their glass correctly.

Glass bottles and jars can break easily during collection. When included with other recycling, the broken glass pieces get mixed in and contaminate all the materials making them more difficult to handle at the recycling facility. The broken glass also becomes a safety risk for collectors.

Contaminated recycling will not be collected. Glass bottles and jars set out for recycling must be placed in the Grey Box; containers must be placed in Blue Box

Recycling collectors have been instructed to tag and leave behind improperly sorted containers and glass at curbside.

To ensure your recycling is collected, put glass bottles and jars in your Grey Box
