Curious about a career as a firefighter? Find out more from a team of female firefighters at Camp Ignite from August 4 to 7, 2022.
Camp Ignite is traditionally a four-day overnight camp that offers an introduction to the exciting world of firefighting. Each participant will learn about fitness, nutrition, health, and teamwork. Young women in Grades 11 and 12 (ages 15–18) living in British Columbia are encouraged to submit an application. The deadline to apply is June 1.
The course is hosted by West Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services, North Vancouver City Fire Department, and District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services. There is no cost to participate.
Participants will be given an introduction to firefighting and have the opportunity to learn about fitness, nutrition, health, and teamwork.
“Camp Ignite educates and inspires young women to follow their dreams. It is an excellent opportunity for young women to learn firsthand from local female firefighters about this exciting and rewarding career", said Public Education Capt. Brian Stopfer. “Their motto says it all—Ignite your passion. Ignite the possibilities. Ignite tomorrow’s opportunities!”
