Expect traffic delays at 13th Street and Bellevue Avenue

Nov 30, 2018

Expect traffic delays at the entrance to Ambleside Park starting Monday, December 3, for approximately 7–10 days as CN Rail crews complete upgrades to the railway crossing at 13th Street and Bellevue Avenue.

During this phase of the upgrade, work will include installation of railway signals and crossing equipment which will require some vegetation removal and excavation.

Ambleside Park will remain open to pedestrians and vehicles during the work. Vehicle traffic in and out of the park will be restricted to single-lane alternating traffic. Pedestrians will be detoured to enter the park via 14th Street.

A description of the work by location is indicated below.

North side of train tracks

  • northeast corner of 13th Street and Bellevue Avenue (Rutledge Field parking lot)
removal of a tree and surrounding vegetation for installation of an electrical cabinet used to operate the railway crossing infrastructure
  • northwest corner of 13th Street and Bellevue Avenue
excavation of sidewalk letdown and roadway for crossing arm and pole installation

South side of train tracks

  • southeast corner of 13th Street and Ambleside Park (just after entering the park)
partial trimming of existing park tree and excavation work for crossing arm and pole installation
  • southwest corner of Ambleside Park entrance
vegetation removal for the relocation of the existing flashing light pole

Traffic control personnel will be on site to help direct traffic flow.

Thank you for your patience during this necessary upgrade.
