Blue Bus service boosted in first phase of 10-year transit plan

Apr 20, 2017

West Vancouver Blue Bus riders can look forward to shorter waits and less crowding on some of the busiest routes across, into and out of West Vancouver beginning this Saturday.

As part of the 10-Year Vision developed by Translink’s Mayor’s Council, four Blue Bus routes get service boosts.

  • 253 Caulfeild/Park Royal operates every hour on Sundays and holidays (up from every two hours).
  • 254 British Properties/Park Royal operates every hour on Sundays and holidays (up from every two hours).
  • 255 Dundarave/Capilano University weekday service increases to every 20 minutes (up from every 30 minutes) from 6 to 9 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
  • 250A Dundarave/Vancouver increases Saturday service from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The plan was approved by Metro Vancouver mayors last year and will see a 10 per cent increase in bus service across Metro Vancouver, as well as increases to rail and HandyDART service. Translink will announce further service improvements in June.

“Better transit service is one part of our larger effort to tackle traffic and transportation issues, which is a priority for this council,” says West Vancouver mayor Michael Smith. “Service increases mean a better experience and quicker travel for people who already use public transit. Extended and more frequent service provides people who don’t currently use public transit with reason to do so.”
