June 2016
At the June 6, 2016 Council meeting, Council considered the proposed amending bylaws for the redevelopment plans for the Masonic Hall site. Council did not give readings to the bylaws and directed staff to investigate the possibility of including community/public use within the proposal. A revised proposal will be brought back to Council at a future date.

On June 22, Council advanced the development proposal in the review process. Council directed staff to prepare: draft bylaws that would amend the Official Community Plan and the Zoning Bylaw; a draft Phased Development Agreement Bylaw (to secure a Community Amenity Contribution) for introduction of first reading; and to prepare a draft Development Permit and covenants; all for Council consideration. Council may, at this meeting (date to be determined), give reading to the bylaws and schedule a date for a Public Hearing and concurrent Public Meeting.

The District hosted a Community Consultation Meeting on the proposed development on April 22, 2015. The next steps are to report to Council on the feedback from the consultations. Council will then direct the next steps for consideration of the proposal. A meeting date for Council direction has not yet been finalized.

December 2014
On December 15, 2014 Council directed that Community Consultations take place on the development plans for the Masonic Hall site. As such, a Community Consultation Meeting will be scheduled (date & meeting location to be determined) and notice will be mailed to the Council approved notification map. Notice of the meeting will also be posted on the District website. Additionally, the application will be referred to the Design Review Committee (DRC) and North Shore Accessibility Committee on Disability Issues (ACDI) (dates to be determined). Proposal Summary (Updated April 2015)
The District has received an application for an Official Community Plan (OCP) amendment, a rezoning and a development permit for the Masonic Hall site, located at 1763 Bellevue Avenue.
The proposal is to rezone the site to all for a seven-storey mixed-use building with a Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of 2.8. There is a partial eighth level to accommodate mezzanine access to roof-top terraces. The first two levels provide for parking and ground level commercial space fronting onto Bellevue Avenue. Twenty residential units are proposed, 2,904 square feet of commercial space, and 57 parking spaces in the parkade for use by the building residents, commercial units and the public.
