The Public Hearing was held on January 22, 2024. Council gave 2nd and 3rd readings of the proposed bylaws on January 29, 2024.
December 2023 Update
Applicant-hosted public information meeting: The applicant hosted an in-person public information meeting at 2229 Folkestone Way on December 12, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m., which provided the public an opportunity to learn about the proposal prior to the Public Hearing on January 22, 2024.
Note: This was not a District-led public consultation; it was hosted by the applicant.
November 2023 Update
Council gave first reading to the Official Community Plan, Zoning amendments and Land Use Contract discharge bylaws on November 27, 2023. The Public Hearing was also scheduled for January 22, 2024.
September 2023 Update
The Design Review Committee (DRC) considered the development proposal at its meeting on June 15, 2023 and recommended reconsideration.
The development application was updated and the revised proposal was considered and supported by the Design Review Committee (DRC) at its meeting on September 21, 2023.
July 2022
The District received a formal redevelopment application for the property at 2229 Folkestone Way.
The applicant proposes to rezone the site to allow for an 8-unit, 3-bedroom, 3 storey townhome development and a new smaller commercial building for a restaurant and offices with a total proposed Floor Area Ratio (FAR) of 0.43. The proposal includes a total of 24 above ground parking stalls and 16 parking stalls below the townhomes on the lowest level of the building.
The proposal is being considered under Policy 2.1.5 of the Official Community Plan for commercial sites. The application requires an Official Community Plan Amendment, rezoning, development permit and Land Use Contract amendment and will include the opportunity for public input. The property currently falls within a Land Use Contract (LUC) area. The Land Use Contract will remain effective until June 30, 2024 when it is terminated at which time the underlying zoning, CD10 (PDF) becomes effective.

March 2022
The District received a Preliminary Development Proposal for the property at 2229 Folkestone Way. The site currently accommodates the Salmon House on the Hill restaurant with office use on the lower level. The preliminary redevelopment proposal included a new smaller restaurant building and 10 townhome units.
The applicant held a virtual preliminary public information meeting on March 16, 2022 to provide information about the proposal, answer questions, and seek public input. Note: This was not District-led public consultation, it is being hosted by the applicant.
