Masonic Hall (1763 Bellevue Avenue)
The development proposal for 1763 Bellevue has been withdrawn and the file has been closed. Content on this page is for informational purposes only.
At the June 6, 2016 Council meeting, Council considered the proposed amending bylaws for the redevelopment plans for the Masonic Hall site. Council did not give readings to the bylaws and directed staff to investigate the possibility of including community/public use within the proposal. A revised proposal will be brought back to Council at a future date.
On June 22, Council advanced the development proposal in the review process. Council directed staff to prepare: draft bylaws that would amend the Official Community Plan and the Zoning Bylaw; a draft Phased Development Agreement Bylaw (to secure a Community Amenity Contribution) for introduction of first reading; and to prepare a draft Development Permit and covenants; all for Council consideration. Council may, at this meeting (date to be determined), give reading to the bylaws and schedule a date for a Public Hearing and concurrent Public Meeting.
The District hosted a Community Consultation Meeting on the proposed development on April 22, 2015. The next steps are to report to Council on the feedback from the consultations. Council will then direct the next steps for consideration of the proposal. A meeting date for Council direction has not yet been finalized.
Discussion is warranted to determine if a building beyond five storeys is appropriate, and if the amount of public parking (15 spaces) as part of a mixed-use building proposed justifies an amendment to the OCP. Please join us at a community consultation meeting to find out more and share your input, and/or complete the online survey.
