False Alarm Reduction Program

The False Alarm Reduction Program is in place to help ensure that firefighters are always available when needed. False alarms can tie up fire crews and impact their availability for other emergencies. Some causes are faulty systems, construction dust or unauthorized tampering. Your first false alarm (during a consecutive 12 month period) is free but you will be charged a sliding fee for subsequent false fire alarm activations. The intent is to minimize the number of false alarms we receive each year (we average approximately 500 false alarms annually).
The sliding fee scale is as follows:
- First false alarm in a 12 month period: FREE
- Second false alarm in same 12 month period: $200
- Third false alarm in same 12 month period: $300
- Fourth false alarm in same 12 month period: $400
- Fifth false alarm in same 12 month period: $500
- Subsequent false alarms in same 12 month period: $1,000
