ABOUT THE ARTIST
Pete Kiss’s career path hasn’t always been an obvious one—though he could probably come up with a semi-rational explanation!

Having grown up making art, which comes as no surprise given his two very creative parents, Peter decided in 1990 to become a full-time artist. This meant leaving behind two previous career paths: Marine Biology and Architecture. (He jokingly claims these two degrees allow him to design fish.)
Over the next decade, he exhibited widely in galleries across Canada and the U.S. While he enjoyed his new career and its positive reception, he found the lack of direct artist-to-client interaction unfulfilling. So in 2001, he and his wife, Tania, opened their own gallery to showcase their work.
The Granville Island Gallery was not only a success but also provided a space where Peter and Tania could connect with their clients and work in a creative environment.

After 22 years, they felt it was time for a change. In 2023, they closed the gallery and transitioned into their newly built home studios—marking the start of an exciting new chapter.
