Nowruz Fire Festival

The arrival of spring marks the arrival of Nowruz: the Persian New Year. Family and friends can celebrate Chaharshanbe Suri with live music, dancing, food, and fire jumping—a tradition that symbolizes good health and luck for the coming year.

This event is being hosted by the Iranian Canadian Congress (BC) and is free and open to the public. 

Fire jumping area is open from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Please note there is a fee to jump the fires.

Road closures

Expect temporary road closures around Ambleside Park between 4:30 and 11 p.m.
The following roads may be closed to all vehicle traffic:

  • 13th Street between Marine Drive and Ambleside Park
  • Bellevue Avenue between 13th Street and 14th Street

Please be aware there will be no vehicle access to the underground parking at the Grosvenor Ambleside during this time. Businesses in the area will remain open with pedestrian access. 

Parking

Limited parking is available inside Ambleside Park. Vehicles will not be able to enter Ambleside Park once the parking lot is full. However, vehicles will still be able to exit the park via 13th Street between 4:30 and 11 p.m.

Event-goers are encouraged to take public transit, walk, or cycle to the event to reduce traffic and parking congestion.
