If you own or are interested in starting a business, there are specific permits that West Vancouver Fire & Rescue requires you to have, depending on your business type.

The BC Fire Code requires some buildings with occupancies over 60 will require a Fire Safety Plan. 

Fire Safety Plans

Restaurants & Bars

For restaurants and bars, the following permits are required to operate legally:

  • Commercial Cooking Extinguishing System Permit
  • Compressed Gas Storage Permit
  • Occupancy Load Permit
Multi-Family (Landlords)

For landlords and rental property owners, the following permits are required to operate legally:

  • Private Fire Hydrant or Other Underground Fire Lines Permit
  • Standpipe System Installation and Modification Permit
  • Fire Safety Plan
Construction & Demolition

For construction/demolition company owners, the following permits are required to operate legally:

  • Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods Permit
  • Hot Works Permit
  • Locking Hardware Permit
  • Spray Booth Installation or Modification Permit
  • Tower Crane Permit
  • Alternate Material or Methods Acceptance
  • Compressed Gas Storage Permit
  • Dust Collection System Equipment Installation Permit
  • Fire Safety Plan
Auto & Garage

For car dealerships and garage owners, the following permits are required to operate legally:

  • Locking Hardware Permit
  • Repair Garages Permit
  • Spray Booth Installation or Modification Permit
  • Compressed Gas Storage Permit
  • Hazardous Material/Dangerous Goods Permit
Other Business Types
