West Vancouver Community Centre Spirit Square came to life with community celebrations for all 17 days of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. West Vancouver is an official Venue City for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. This designation provided our community with a unique opportunity to capture the spirit of the Olympic Movement and to celebrate the Games in our own West Vancouver way.

Watch Canada Take Home the Gold - Family and friends watched the 2010 Olympic Winter Games on the big screens in the heated and covered Atrium at Spirit Square. A CTV Olympic Games Broadcast featured on screens throughout 17 days of competitions. Open to the public.

Canadian Winter Sport Showcase - Twice nightly the Spirit Square came alive with this unique performance created specially for West Vancouver 2010 by URP Event Production and Creative Services. A cast of 12 professional dancers performed in, around and on top of the building in a celebration of Canada’s winter sports. The live performance was complemented by a dynamic soundtrack, huge video screen and high tech lighting design. Open to the public.

Daily showcase: 6 - 6:15 pm and 9 - 9:15 pm
Exceptions: February 12th - first show 5:45 to 6 pm; February 17th - No 6 pm show

Celebrate into the Evening - Evenings came alive with an array of national and local talent, from rock to pop to classical performances in the Atrium. Celebrations at West Vancouver’s Spirit Square showcased the unique character of the West Vancouver community featuring live performances, visual artistry, traditional and contemporary music. Open to the public.

Nightly celebrations: 6 - 9:15 pm
Including: Feb 12th, 13th, 14th, 19th, 20th, 26th, 27th @ 9:30 - 11:30 pm

Sports in Space Exhibit - Discovering your inner explorer and soaring into the cosmos with the Canadian Space Agency. This rare experience provided a fun and interactive learning experience for everyone. Self–guided tours of a scale model of the International Space Station gave a sense of what it’s like to live, work and play sports in space. Northern Showcase Performances - Dance, sing and enjoy the sounds of performers from NunavutYukon and the Northwest Territories alongside popular local artists. Experience the famous Inuit blanket toss on the great lawn in front of Spirit Square, experience and participate with the Dene and Inuit Games athletes, and enjoy story-telling elders. Open to the public.

Daily: 10:30 am - 2 pm
Exceptions: No Northern Showcase performances February 11th, 14th, 20th, 21st and 27th

Explore North Shore Youth Film Festival Gala - Showcased in a Hollywood-style red carpet event, the Film Festival attracted the community, film enthusiasts and media to experience student interpretations of North Shore sport, environment and history.

In celebration and recognition of the 2010 Paralympic Games, the District of West Vancouver presentsed unique opportunities  to experience the Games.

Kunamokst - Mural Mosaic: Coastal Inspirations - Over 200 of some of Canada's finest artists from along the west coast collaborated to create a stunning 12 foot x 21 foot mural. The mural is comprised of 231, 12 inch x 12 inch ORIGINAL paintings that when all the images are combined together a united image comes to life.

Unveiling: February 13th @ 2:30 - 4 pm in the 2nd Floor Art room at West Vancouver's Spirit Square
Exhibit viewing: February 13th - February 28, 2010; Monday - Thursday/Sunday @ 10 am - 5 pm; Friday and Saturday @ 10 am - 9 pm
